As a Best Practice in Perinatal Loss Populations
Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is currently offering a continuing education course for members of the medical community.
Please know that the intention of the Medical Affiliate Program is to allow a family to receive the best quality photographs possible when a NILMDTS photographer is otherwise unavailable. Taking photos for a bereaved family is likely something you already do for those patients in your regular work day. Your personal information will not be shared with anyone and you will not be called upon to take sessions elsewhere.
NILMDTS is currently offering this Continuing Education Course for $50.00.
How You Can Help
Please join with us in our commitment to reach bereaved families with the priceless gift of photography, even in these times of unprecedented uncertainty. By donating just $50 you can help offset the waived fee and help bereaved families during this uncertain time receive priceless images of their precious baby(ies).
*This continuing nursing education activity was approved by Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
What will I learn?
The course will share how photography is increasingly becoming a best practice for healthcare providers that deal with perinatal loss. These best practices offer quality heirloom portraits to bereaved parents, which will likely be the most priceless gift they will receive.
Providers will learn about the research that shows the benefits to parents and the difference it makes with regards to psychosocial support going forward. Providers will also learn essential communication skills for offering photographs during such a sensitive time. NILMDTS will demonstrate how to create an intimate portrait session that will elevate the quality of photographs for the bereaved families that are served.
NILMDTS will also discuss the identified practice gaps and provide guidance on overcoming them. Through interactive demonstrations, providers will learn how to offer and/or create an intimate portrait session for a family.
According to a recent survey to medical providers
80% would like training on submitting photos for professional retouching.
78% would like training on proper photography techniques.
99% felt a combination of all program offerings would be extremely beneficial to them and/or their facility.
"I've always admired the work that Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep does, so when I saw the opportunity to help them help families through the new Medical Program, I jumped on it. I know the importance of quality images for grieving families and I couldn't let families go without because of the new visitor restrictions in our hospital. I was approved almost immediately to take the Medical Affiliate course. The training was informative and the test was quick and easy. Just like that, I was approved to be a Medical Affiliate for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.
Little did I know when I arrived at work that afternoon that my services would be needed! The rest of the process went just as smoothly. The website is easy to navigate, the consent forms easy to obtain and the pictures simple to upload. I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to help these families in their time of need."
